Keeping track of time wasters
by Marguerite Meyer
The die is cast: This year we celebrated International Translation Day with a raffle. And our lucky winner is Susanne Steinegger, owner of the translation company Zieltext AG! The prize was a Timeular Tracker – an eight-sided cube that records the time spent on individually definable tasks and projects. Congratulations to Susanne Steinegger – we wish you lots of fun and exciting insights!
It's no coincidence that we gave away a gadget for time tracking. For Language Box has one thing in common with the tracker: we identify time wasters for our clients. But we also show them their potential for optimization.
Multi-layered language processes
Like many organizational processes, language processes are extremely multi-layered and complex. Hidden time wasters can be found, for example, in time-consuming manual order preparation and assignment, in time-consuming requests from external LSPs, or in a historically grown division of tasks within the team. This does not have to be the case. In order to establish goal-oriented and efficient workflows, it is worthwhile to rethink and question existing processes and patterns. This is exactly where Language Box comes in. At the request of our clients, we take a close look at their workflows and support them in implementing successful and sustainable translation processes.
Detecting optimization potentials
In a first step, we examine the current organizational structures and processes. This includes the actual language processes, but also billing processes, the system landscape or supplier management. In our analysis, we do not only identify efficiency inhibitors, but also show hidden potentials right away.
On this basis, in a second step, we propose concrete improvement measures. Depending on the initial situation, we show, for example, how the tasks in a language team can be divided in favor of a lean organizational structure, or where a (partial) automation of tasks makes sense.
Fit for the future
It is important for us to find individual solutions tailored to the business goals and needs of our clients. In doing so, we always keep the overriding goal in mind: the best possible use of time and resources, enabling language teams to effectively address future developments.
